In the heart of the Avenières estate, a Belle Epoque chateau rises from a stone foundation, facing a terraced garden. The castle’s history begins in 1904, when a young American heiress visited Avenières, fell in love with the view, and decided to build a chateau on the grounds. Her husband, an engineer and astronomer, became the driving force behind the project, devoting himself to the building, and in 1914, bestowing it with electricity and running water.
