Calvi’s “Wind Festival” blows through October 27–31, 2010
This year, the Calvi Wind Festival will take place under the auspices of photographer/environmentalist Yann Arthus-Bertrand and navigator/writer Isabelle Autissier...
and has officially been dubbed an “eco-festival” by the French environmental and energy management agency, ADEME.
The 19th annual Festival du Vent will bring together a stellar collection of musicians: Peuple de l'Herbe, Mustang, Jacek Orchestra, JP Nataf, Polo, DJ RKK, and l'Albatros.
Various ecological themes will be explored during the festival, such as the definition of social finance, the latest trends in sustainableconstruction materials, and whether “clean” chemistry really exists. But the Wind Festival will also demonstrate its commitment to sustainable living. Among other energy-saving setups, one of the outdoor stages will be run by solar panels and a composter will be provided for vegetable waste during the five days of the festival.
The festival will also promote the latest effort of its creators, the non-profit group Les Amis du Vent. "Jette pas ton mégot, deviens un héros !" is the slogan for a campaign to get people to stop throwing cigarette butts on the sidewalks and other public spaces. There will also be various activities for young people, as well as the Fête de l’Air, street theater, art projects, and other performances and events all over town.
Every year, Calvi’s Wind Festival harmoniously combines sports, art, and ecology for fans of each discipline as well as the general public.
