Revisiting the covered passages of the 9th arrondissement

Grand Cerf covered passage in ParisA visit of the 19th-century covered passages in Paris with M. de K., an auction enthusiast and member of e romantic hotel’s selection committee.

The tour starts at Passage Jouffroy, which opened in 1847 and is the home to both Hôtel Chopin and the Grévin wax museum.
The visit continues with Passage des Panoramas, on the other side of the boulevard, where bakeries and gourmet shops rub shoulders with antiques and rare bookstores.
Then we headed south to the very refined Passage Vero Dodat, built in 1837 with money from real estate speculation (!), and after we explored three other passages, including Passage du Grand Cerf, whose lofty glass roof is the highest in Paris.
