I took photos of Nature Capitale on the Champs Elysées
No cars on the Champs Elysées, at 7 o’clock this morning, just a few of us were ready with our cameras…
An extraordinary event took place on the Elysian Fields: Nature Capitale. This “street art” event was conceived and directed by Gad Weil, with scenery and original designs by Laurence Médioni.
To celebrate World Biodiversity Day, 1.3 kilometers of the most beautiful street in the world was invaded by Nature.
150 different species of plants, shrubbery, and vines were on hand, from Constantinople acacia to Alsatian vines, not to mention Canadian amelanchier, Himalayan birch, Santa Lucia cherry trees, Atlas cedar, and various cucurbitaceae. A veritable botanical world tour.
This ephemeral work will last—after a fashion. The public is invited to become “spreaders” by acquiring one of the 8,000 tiny parcels of vegetable life that make up the project.
