Takeshi Kitano at the Fondation Cartier: 'Gosse de Peintre' (Kid Painter)
Takeshi Kitano’s exhibit “Gosse de Peintre” at the Fondation Cartier in Paris (until September 12, 2010) is for children and adults of all ages.
Using an exceptional originality, he creates a dialogue with the imaginary. Young people are invited to draw their own interpretation of a dinosaur on a magnetized sheet of white paper and then to hang it on a special wall, forming a constantly evolving creative fresco.
Kitano’s subject matter is both eclectic and unlikely: “How to avoid death by hanging in Japan?” Or “Why did the dinosaurs disappear?” The finely tuned responses are both offbeat and eccentric—Kitano’s exhibit makes you both laugh and think.
As soon as you enter the fun begins with your ticket—if on the back there is a picture of a dinosaur, you get to choose a color and paint the exhibit’s dinosaur with the paint canon.
This not-to-be-missed exhibit includes the painter’s first naïve paintings of tangled animals and vegetables and a giant sewing machine—come with your family, your friends, or both.
