VIP at the château de Vaux-le-Vicomte
Superintendant of King Louis XIV, Nicolas Fouquet acquired an enormous wealth and built a magnificent château, between 1641 and 1661.
When the Sun King saw Vaux-le-Vicomte for the first time, he got dazzled and frustrated. He put Nicolas Fouquet in jail, decided to build the Palace of Versailles and hired the three main artists of Vaux-le-Vicomte, the architect Louis Le Vau, the painter Charles Le Brun and the garden designer André Le Nôtre. Alfred Sommier acquired the ownership of the château in 1875 and initiated the complete restoration, still carried on today by his lineal descendants, Count and Countess de Vogüé, and their three sons. Located less than an hour from Paris, Vaux-le-Vicomte is one of the latest private domains of the region which gives the freedom to imagine the most ambitious events.
Six helicopters can land in the same time in front of the château, it is suggested to rent one of the carriage of the museum to visit the park, it is even possible to rent the château for a royal evening with a private fireworks.
I am greeted with an extreme courtesy by the worthy «descendant» of François Vatel, who was in charge of organizing fests and events for Nicolas Fouquet in the 17. Century and the community manager, as Vaux-le-Vicomte knows how to adapt to our times.
She gives me an overview of her office which is the same as Vatel’s one, and explains me how, like her predecessor, she can have the furniture moved, ask for a chimney fire, find a private guide depending on the personnality and the nationality of the travellers, imagine surprising gifts following the tastes of the guests, and ensure that the event run smoothly. Nothing is impossible.
